Subject

OPI image replacement of EPS files could yield flashes

Info

The OPI 1.3 standard defines image dimensions with integers.
This makes sense for raster images where image dimensions are
numbers of pixels. But image dimensions are also needed for
EPS files. The image dimension of EPS files is measured in
PostScript points where 1 PostScript point is 1/72 inch, so
these dimensions are often non-integer. Therefore page layout
applications like Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress have to round
image dimensions when they generate OPI 1.3 comments for EPS
files. These roundings could cause slightly wrong placements
or sizings in OPI image replacement, which sometimes become
visible as disturbing flashes. These flashes are avoided now.
Also fixed:
- The combination of cropping (selection of a sub-rectangle)
and clipping (selection of a region bounded by an arbitrary
clipping path) in OPI image replacement could result in
wrong visible output, i.e. the area of an image selected to
be shown is not printed correctly.
NOTE: Before installing this update, the update installer itself
must be updated with one of the updates u0300-u0306.
