Subject

lpd uses the HELIOS IP access lists for remote system validation

Info

The lpd server program now does use the same mechanisms for IP access
verification as all other EtherShare programs do. It does no longer
use the /etc/hosts.equiv or /etc/hosts.lpd files. All hosts and
networks which are allowed in the EtherShare's IP access list
will also be able to use lpd for remote lpr protocol job transmission.
Also fixed:
- The lpd program now verifies all file name entries in a job's
control file in case the job is submitted using the remote lpr
protocol. In case a file name is accidently shortened it will
be corrected. This was first seen in jobs submitted from Apple
Macintosh workstations where a long file name was shortened to 31
characters.
