Press Release

HELIOS WebShare Manager offers remote folder sync

Secure remote folder and file sync for business users. Multi-user access to designated remote intranet server files with drag & drop file transfer between local workstations and remote servers.

Hannover, Germany, August 14, 2012 – HELIOS Software GmbH announced that HELIOS WebShare Manager enhances remote collaboration for businesses with two-way file sync and full folder synchronization between a user's local workstation and their remote departmental or enterprise WebShare server. HELIOS WebShare Manager facilitates remote project collaboration using files and folders scattered in various locations on a file server, without the need to move or collect them into a single place.

Unlike many “cloud storage” and remote “hot folder” synchronization apps, HELIOS WebShare and WebShare Manager are designed for collaboration, with multi-user access to designated files, and enterprise grade security. LAN users working with files residing on their corporate file servers can access the same files remotely after leaving the office. No copies of critical files are needed on any vendor’s cloud storage.

With WebShare Manager, a project window on the local computer acts as the interface for drag & drop file transfer and configurable sync schemes. New hierarchical folder support enables synchronization of entire directory trees! Simply drag & drop a local or remote file or folder into the WebShare Manager project window, and it is copied to the other system. Subsequent file additions or changes are automatically synchronized.

Common applications of WebShare Manager include:

  • Remote workflows – Users can conveniently and securely access the latest server documents and work remotely. Their updated documents are then synced back to the server.

  • Remote project collaboration – WebShare multi-user support facilitates collaboration, allowing authorized individuals and group members to access project files and folders that reside on the company's intranet server, right on their local computer. Automatic synchronization with versioning support ensures that all users are working with the latest versions.
  • Remote backups – Automatically backup files from a workstation or laptop to a remote HELIOS WebShare server, allowing remote offices and laptops to be integrated into the corporate backup system.

HELIOS WebShare enables secure remote access to server files via any web browser. Authorized users can navigate the file system, or use Spotlight search to find files. HELIOS WebShare Manager is the powerful client application for Mac, Windows, or UNIX/Linux computers, that provides convenient access to frequently used server files and project data on the local workstation.
