HELIOS G8 Create PDF Server and Acrobat Distiller CC on Windows 11

We have successfully tested HELIOS Create PDF Server under Windows 11 using Adobe Distiller (24.5.20320.0) from the Adobe Creative Cloud 2025.

To ensure that Adobe Distiller does not issue a security warning, which must be confirmed for every PDF, disable this warning as described in our Tech Info #202.

Make sure that the Acrobat and Distiller applications have been started once manually under the specified user account because it must be running once to set settings and authorization for this account. After this procedure the service will work.

HELIOS Create PDF Server can be used in two different modes:

  • Manual startup of “Create PDF Server”
To start “Create PDF Server” manually (in the foreground), double-click the “Create PDF Server” application.

Now the printer queue can send jobs to Create PDF Server, its progress is shown in the output window of the “Create PDF Server” application.

  • Background processing of “Create PDF Server” as a Windows service
For the installation as a windows service, the “Create PDF Server” application can be installed via the  “InstallPDFService.bat” script as adminstrator (right mouse button => Run as administrator). This means that it is started automatically when the Windows Comuputer is booted and runs in the background waiting for jobs. Calling the install script will also start the server.

“Create PDF Server” as a Windows service must be enabled to run under a valid Windows user account which must be configured:

  • Open the Windows “Services” window, select and open the “HELIOS Create PDF Server” entry

  • Go to the “Log on” tab, select the “This account” option and enter a valid user account name and password

  • Stop and start the “Create PDF Server” service to use the new account settings

Note:
Make sure that the Windows firewall on this PC allows incoming connections to port 2005!
