Solaris x86 on virtual machines might have wrong machine ID

Note: The following information applies only to HELIOS installations on Solaris x86 running in a supported virtualization environment.

The HELIOS UB2 Installer on CD025 does not reliably recognize if it is running in a virtualized Solaris x86 installation.

As a result, it could display a different machine ID compared to the machine ID displayed by the HELIOS UB+ installer from CD024.

If you recognized a different machine ID in UB2 compared to UB+, please proceed as follows:

  • Stop the HELIOS UB2 software.
  • Download and install update u0916.
  • Remove the file "var/run/lastmachid" in the HELIOS product directory, e.g. by running the following command as user "root":
    # rm `cat /etc/HELIOSInstallPath`/var/run/lastmachid
  • Start the HELIOS UB2 software again.

The "machid" tool should now display the same machine ID as with UB+, and HELIOS license keys with this machine ID will work.

The HELIOS UB2 Installer on CD025 will continue to show the wrong machine ID, because we cannot update the software on the CD.
