1 About the chapters of this manual
In the following, we give a brief summary of every chapter of this manual. These summaries are supposed to help you find the information you are looking for.
Chapter
2 "Using the manual" explains how to read and understand the manual. The chapter gives information about the manual version, the structure of the contents, and the meanings of font and syntax conventions.
Chapter
3 "Introduction" gives background information about networks in general, and the components that make up PCShare 3. For those who are already familiar with the product it explains the new features of PCShare version 3.
Chapter
4 "Installation" first of all lists the system requirements for PCShare 3 and gives detailed instructions on how to install PCShare 3 from our CD-ROM. After that, you will find some general information about things you should keep in mind during the installation process. Finally, it describes how to uninstall the software if necessary.

5 "PCShare Admin" thoroughly explains the UNIX host administration program PCShare Admin. It explains key navigation within the PCShare Admin and shows how to configure PCShare 3 (e.g. users, groups, volumes, and printers), and how to control print jobs, and IP access.

7 "PCShare services" describes the file and print server utility programs, the server configuration files, the configuration with NIS, the server and printer accounting files and gives information about WINS, WINS Proxy, Browsing, and DHCP support for dynamic DNS updates.
Chapter
8 "Technical support" provides information on how to use activation and demonstration keys, PCShare and firewalls, and on the software update services. Additionally, "license", "generic", and "printer interface" error messages are explained.
Appendix
A 4 "Technical notes" contains a number of technical information that are meant for experienced UNIX users only.
