In the following, we give a brief summary of each chapter in this manual. These summaries will help you find the information you are looking for.
Chapter 2 “An introduction to HELIOS EtherShare” gives background information about the components that make up EtherShare.
Chapter 3 “HELIOS Admin” briefly shows how to manage EtherShare related tasks such as configuring AFP volume settings, PAP printer settings, etc. with the HELIOS administration program.
Chapter 4 “The “atalkd” server” describes the function of the AppleTalk server. Furthermore, it explains the error messages you may receive when using EtherShare.
Chapter 5 “TCP/IP configuration” describes how to set up AFP server and volume access lists.
Chapter 6 “The EtherShare file server” describes the function, the configuration, and the operation of the file server. It explains how the administrator can define access privileges for EtherShare Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X users.
Chapter 7 “The PAP print server” explains the “papsrv” and describes how to configure printers manually.
Chapter 8 “The mail server” describes the “mailsrv” program that implements mail server functions on the server and manages the communication with HELIOS Mail on a Mac up to Mac OS 8/9, or POP mail clients.
Chapter 9 “The EtherShare administration server” briefly describes the old “admsrv” program on the server.
Chapter 10 “The Terminal server” describes the “termsrv” program that implements terminal server functions on the server and manages the communication with the HELIOS Terminal application on a Mac up to Mac OS 8/9.
Chapter 11 “The Time server” explains how to synchronize the time on a Mac client up to Mac OS 8/9 with the time on the EtherShare server.
Chapter 12 “EtherShare utility programs” introduces EtherShare utility programs and describes them in detail.
