HELIOS Base UB User manual

2 Using the manual
2.1 Conventions
Note that our update information and Tech Info files are also part of the documentation. They may contain details about our products that have not yet made it into the manual. So, make it a habit to read the update info texts whenever you install updates, and to read the Tech Info files regularly. For that purpose, check the folders "updates" and "support" on the current CD-ROM, or the support section on our web site.
If available, read the product-specific "README" files. You will find these files after the software installation in "HELIOSDIR/public/ReadMe". See 4.7 "After the installation - What now?" for more detailed information.
For detailed information on all our products, you may check the "manuals" directory on the CD-ROM and the "Documentation" folder in the "HELIOS Applications" (Macintosh)/"HELIOS_APPS" (Windows) volume. It contains all manuals, data sheets, and brochures of our products in PDF format. HELIOS manuals can also be read on-line on the HELIOS web site.
2.1.1 Structure
This manual contains three main parts, namely:
2.1.2 Font and syntax conventions
Some font and syntax conventions are used in this manual. Their meanings and uses are explained below.
The italics style is used for words of particular importance.
The Courier font indicates text that appears on your monitor when you are working on a host platform. It is also used for host commands you have to enter.
Cross-references to side heads appear in Helvetica bold.

Note: Notes give details that might be useful as additional information. They may also contain a reference to other chapters where additional information can be found.

Important: These paragraphs should be read carefully! They are intended to help you avoid problems and save time.

The term host includes all computers with an operating system version which is currently supported by HELIOS products (see 4.1.1 "System requirements" or our CD-ROM booklet).
