iServer (SSE AG)

Description

In production processes, the iServer web portal integrates the customer with the internal production team and enables the conversion and transfer of data to partners, via a standard web browser.

How does the data management via Internet work?

Web image management for the sender:
A standard web browser allows for password protected access to centrally stored server data. An individually compiled image selection is collected in the “LightBox” (similar to a shopping basket) and is then conveniently converted and saved into a Zip archive. Different color spaces, resolutions or formats are supported. The sender of the data may input the due date of the converted data as well as job descriptions, which provide the receiver with helpful information for using the data. By use of a direct link to the receiver, which is automatically created and added to the email, the sender closes their task. Amenities such as the LightBox preview with scalable thumbnails top off the concept.

Web image management for the receiver:
The receiver of the data can select the direct link within the received email and is directly taken to a web page which contains the following items that belong to each task:

  • the file name with a link to the data that is subject to download
  • the availability period for the download
  • job descriptions

The data transfer ends with the data download from iServer.

Benefits
  • Multilingual user interface for international partners/customers
  • 24/365 access to production data without manual copying effort. This enables the end-user to e.g. edit their data hosted at a PrePress provider's location.
  • Security against data loss by individuals and reduced access rights for web users
  • Web-based search for several criteria including meta data
  • Easy use without elaborate training for web users
  • Efficient and flexible data conversions
  • Mail notification to partners
  • Data transfer protocols
  • High performance due to server-based conversions
  • Supports remote workgroups independent of time and place – even a slow connection to the Internet will do because the data scheduled for transfer is automatically packed into a Zip archive.
