1 About the chapters of this manual
In the following, we give a brief summary of each chapter of this manual. These summaries will help you find the information you are looking for.
"An introduction to HELIOS EtherShare" gives background information about the components that make up EtherShare.
"HELIOS Admin" briefly shows how to manage EtherShare related tasks such as configuring AFP volume settings, PAP printer settings, etc. with the new HELIOS administration program.
Description of the server software modules
"The "atalkd" server" describes the function of the AppleTalk server. Furthermore, it explains the error messages you may receive when using EtherShare.
"TCP/IP configuration" describes how to set up AFP server and volumes access lists.
"The EtherShare file server" describes the function, the configuration, and the operation of the file server. It explains how the administrator can define access privileges for EtherShare Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X users.
"The PAP print server" explains the "papsrv" and describes how to configure printers manually.
"The Mail server" describes the "mailsrv" program that implements mail server functions on the server and manages the communication with Helios Mail on a Macintosh, or POP Mail clients.
"The EtherShare Administration server" describes briefly the "admsrv" program on the server.
"The Terminal server" describes the "termsrv" program that implements terminal server functions on the server and manages the communication with the Helios Terminal application on a Macintosh up to Mac OS 8/9.
