1. World of HELIOS: Apple WWDC 2016
This year’s Apple World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) brings the developer community up to date on the future of OS X, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. For us and our business customers, Mac and iOS technologies are of interest. Most important is that we can meet Apple engineers one to one in the Labs to discuss technologies and to get advice for our solutions.

I will post some WWDC photos on my Google+ page, and welcome discussions for the WWDC event.

Enjoy this newsletter.

2. Pre-drupa webinars
You are invited to participate with HELIOS in our pre-drupa seminar series, to learn more about HELIOS solutions that can help boost productivity and save money. The seminars will be presented online, in a video conference format. Registration per seminar will be limited, so that all attendees will have ample time to ask questions and discuss the topic. The seminars will take place during the week of May 23-25. We hope you can join us for some enlightening discussions.

Rather than exhibiting at drupa, HELIOS will take advantage of video conference technologies throughout the year, to reach a broader range of locales and industries, with more convenience for all participants.

3. Stay current with HELIOS updates
Have you installed the latest HELIOS updates? The HELIOS development team is always at work to improve our products, and it releases updates as needed to ensure compatibility with third-party products, to fix bugs, and to introduce new features. For example, update u1155 updates Create PDF Server (Windows) to support Acrobat Distiller CC and DC.

Document Hub 2.0 is another significant update. Have you tried it yet? Document Hub 2.0 remains as easy as ever for iPad and iPhone users to access files on the company server. You’ll love the new gallery mode, to view zoomable previews of images, PDFs, and Office documents. You can easily try it out by downloading the Document Hub app in the iTunes App Store. A test server with sample data is already pre-configured.

And if you read your server messages log (easily done via HELIOS Admin), maybe you’ve noticed this line:
authsrv[pid]: missing RSA key file '/usr/local/helios/var/conf/passwd.key' for HELIOS passwords

If so, you are not taking advantage of the HELIOS RSA-based password encryption, introduced with updates u1124-1126, and u1129. The updates allow switching from standard HELIOS crypted passwords to RSA-crypted passwords. For full details, read “10.1.11 HELIOS RSA-based password encryption” in the HELIOS Base manual.

Updates are listed on the HELIOS website, and are easily installed via the HELIOS update installer. Watch the “HELIOS Update Installer 4 easy steps” video for a quick demo.
